This is what distinguishes SA membranes from all others. Three factors determine bond quality:
Primer penetrates the concrete surface, seals the capillary pores, and creates a chemically compatible bonding interface for the SA layer. Without primer, concrete surface dust and porosity prevent the adhesive from wetting properly — the result is significantly reduced bond strength and early delamination. This step is never optional.
After the membrane is pressed onto the primed surface, it must be firmly rolled across the full area using a heavy rubber roller — including all edges and overlaps. Roller pressure forces the adhesive layer into surface irregularities, removes air voids, and dramatically increases the contact area. SA membranes bond best when the substrate temperature is above 5°C.
