Roof Leakage After Monsoon Rain in Lahore & Islamabad

This is by far the most common complaint from homeowners across both cities, peaking every year between July and September. Flat rooftops — the standard construction across Lahore’s residential areas and Islamabad’s housing society plots — pool water during heavy rain. That water finds every hairline crack in the slab and works its way down into ceiling plaster, then walls.

Why it keeps coming back: Most repair attempts use cement or bitumen paste applied over visible cracks. This works for one season because the root cause is not the crack itself but a missing or failed waterproofing membrane across the entire roof surface. When concrete heats to 45°C in June and cools rapidly during rain, it expands and contracts. Any patch that is not elastic breaks within one or two cycles.

The permanent fix: A multi-layer APP or SBS modified bituminous membrane system applied across the full roof surface. The source is almost always hidden: failing tile joints, cracked pipe collars beneath the floor, or degraded waterproofing membrane under the floor screed.
